Reflexology

On a whim I came into a Chinese medicine practitioners whilst in between house viewings, they had a slot for reflexology so I thought I’d jump on in. I have had reflexology before but that was in a desperate attempt to get my first baby to vacate my throbbing vagina, needless to say it didn’t work (she stayed put for at least another 8 days) but I was very relaxed! I am currently sitting in a room with no spa music whilst the man has gone to prepare the herbs…..this doesn’t mean anything to me, am I going to put my feet in them, drink them, have them wafted in front of my face? who knows! I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine for a short while as an attempt to get out of a career in pharmacy and become a qualified acupuncturist, but couldn’t quite make my dyslexic mind get to harness the brain power needed to remember all the points….a pretty vital bit of the study!
Turns out the herbs have been turned Into a very nice foot soak, in a washing up
bowl with a carrier bag in (for hygiene reasons I’d imagine!) so I’m still sitting here, alone with no music writing a blog post (I suspect I’m meant to be relaxing, but the rustling of the plastic bag isn’t as melodic as a CD playing gentle waves)

I wonder what herb is in my foot bath and what it’s meant to be doing?, also how long am I going to be kept in this claustrophobic room for, the cheap travel clock tick toking away is making me slightly anxious as if there’s a count down to something
The febreeze must be there to cover up the smell of funky herbs 🌿. It does have a particular smell to it that I can’t quite place.

How Does Reflexology work? (If it does?)
From what I gather it is a targeted pressure that focuses on specific reflex points on the feet that relate to different organs in the body, this gentle manipulation can generate a flow of energy which can relieve blockages or interruptions to the flow. Once this flow of energy is restored this can lead to the body helping to heal itself.
However I am yet to find out as I am still sitting alone in this little room, with its blind down with the herbal water distinctly cooler than it was half an hour ago…..I can’t say that this is what I was expecting, but them again I’ve only ever had it carried out by someone who has done it as an add on therapy for their treatment list! The tick tock is en grained into my brain and I’m wondering if I’m still going to be here at 5.30 when I’m due across town at another property viewing 🤪. Perhaps he has forgotten about me and my treatment won’t be very effective as my toes will have transformed into prunes and my toe nail which I injured whilst running (have we mentioned we run?!) might have fallen off in this luke warm water. I should have done a Instagram poll about how long people think that he would leave me for o hang on he’s back…….
Well spoiler alert I don’t think this is something that I will be returning to do anytime soon, my feet feel like they have done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson, if I were to relate this to a massage it would have been the deepest deep tissue massage there ever was! He kept popping off for minutes at a time, this must have been to give his fingers a break and my feet cried out with relief. My right foot was fine I felt the pressure but it didn’t hurt, my left foot on the other hand well that was another story I had to stop myself yelping out every time he passed a certain point, but deep breathing and mind over matter got me through!
So obviously I was hoping for some explanation as to why my left foot felt like it was being stabbed my a white hot poker and if it meant I was dying a slow death, but nada, nothing, zilch! just a thank you very much don’t slip on the slick of baby oil on your feet and it’ll be £39! So I’m down the amount of money that I’d pay for a great massage and have nothing to show for it. Perhaps I’ll sleep like a baby tonight and not have anxiety when my period arrives tomorrow and I’ll be eating my words….watch this space.
Definitely going to Google the shit out of what does it mean when your left foot feels like you’re stepping on thorns when you’re having reflexology, I’ll report back!
Apparently I’m stressed, it relates to my adrenal gland and the reason he was going at it again and again would have been to unblock the qi energy and allow it to flow. So anyone who sees me tomorrow you’re in for a treat I’ll be walking on clouds ☁️ as I’m so stress free……
